How do weighted grades work?

Each category (homework, quizzes, exams) counts for a fixed share of your grade. Your score in each category is multiplied by its weight, then everything is added: 90% on homework worth 20% contributes 18 points to your final grade.

What if my weights don't add up to 100%?

The calculator normalizes automatically: it divides by the total weight you entered, so partially-complete courses still show an accurate current grade.

How do I find my category weights?

They're in your syllabus, usually as a table ('Homework 20%, Midterm 25%...'). If your course uses points instead, each category's weight is its points divided by the course total.
